Buck Fever

Sorry about these pictures lately, that's Verizon Wireless for ya. Anyways this is me out deer hunting. Big Daddy took the picture. I'm holding my shot gun but really i was deer hunting, i just didn't feel like pulling out the 30-30 rifle for the picture since this was taken just as we where leaving to come back home and the shotgun was on top of all the other guns.

So, here's how the hunt went: Saturday it was beautiful outside, warm and sunshine, highs in the middle 50's. Got up at 5am and out to the stand on Coyotes property by sunrise. Coyote is a driver that i work with and he has lot's of land to hunt. Anyways i was sitting up in the stand and getting bored, fell asleep a couple of times and bored some more, so i decided to get down from the stand and walk around a bit. While i was getting my gun hooked up to a piece of rope to lower to the ground this buck comes strutting on by me. I couldn't believe it, i was making all kinds of noise getting my gun and pack tied to a string also i kicked the pail used for a seat which cause more noise and this deer "buck mind you" just kept walking by. Never looked up at me or nothing, and I didn't take the shot...why? Why? WHY? Here's why, Coyote said only 8 pointers for someone like me that had shot a deer before, mind you it was 11 years ago since i went hunting let alone longer since i shot any deer...that i don't remember when I'll have to figure out out some day. So 8 points and that deer "buck" was at least 4 inches of spike on top, but it was really big for just a spike deer. So i watched him leave, i could have shot him with my eyes closed. Then i went walking down a trail when i spooked up a doe. Yep this time a doe, she was looking right at me and then snorted and hoped into some thick brush where i once again couldn't take the shot. Two more time or maybe it was four i don't remember how many deer i flush and didn't even see on Saturday but at least there was deer around....coyote did say i could shoot at a spike on his land and the 8 point rule was only for his brother's land so i wish i would have shot at spike.so today on Sunday did nothing in the early morning since it rained until about 10am then me, big daddy and coyote started driving for deer with no result's to mention. Coyote and big daddy say they both saw or heard deer and couldn't take the shot. Then just about 3pm this afternoon we decided to get into stands along some big fields. Nothing until it was too dark for me to shoot.....i already had my gun put away and i was waiting in the field for coyote and big daddy to pick me up in the truck that we drove out there with and all of a sudden a big deer bounded across the field. I tried to get my gun out of the case but my case jammed and the deer got into the brush on the other side before i could get it open. But once i did get it open i looked through the scope and realized that it was way too dark to shoot anyways...but it got my heart thumping. I forgot to say i saw a 1 grouse and 1 raccoon that i did take a shot at and missed. Over all it was really fun, just to be outside doing it again like old times, but with a different person or people than 11 years ago. I will probably go again next weekend or next year since now i have the "Buck Fever" back in my veins.

Ok here's Big Daddy's total in short (because this is my blog and i can do it short...hehehe): he shot at a doe, and hit it but couldn't find it, he found his bullet in the ground and some fur and a small amount of blood that soon stop while tracking it....so that's it, he got a shot at one! He also saw five grouse, 2 rabbits.......and scared up other deer but never really saw them to shoot at.

Ok that's it for now I'm tired and I'm out of here blog!!!
